Shrimp was fried right!! I never had carrots
in my greens, but they were tasty. Had the potato salad yummy. Specials pina colada 2 for 1. There is no fried fish on the menu. The meat was tender. My friends had combos with brisket and lemon pepper wings. They loved it. Support this brother, his wife, and his children. You will not be disappointed. Show his family some love.
Will come again. -

Last week, our 7 year old granddaughter had a lunchtime "brisket need." I perused my phone looking for someplace near Rockville Centre. After reading the reviews of Backyard BBQ we headed there. It was a cold, rainy day so I ordered a coffee to warm up. Well, they don't serve coffee. But, in minutes, a coffee magically appeared at our table. Kenny, the chef, went next door and got me a coffee to go!
Sam was our server and he was delightful. We ordered the pulled pork sliders with delicious, crunchy cole slaw for our 2 girls. My husband and I shared the 2 meat combo plate of brisket and ribs. With it, we ordered collard greens - the best I have EVER eaten- along with scrumptious Mac and cheese. The freshly baked, still warm, incredibly tasty mini cornbread loaf was served along with it.
Absolutely, positively EVERYTHING was delicious. You gotta go there to meet Kenny and Sam and enjoy the offerings. There is a full bar, too.
Kenny's culinary education has served him - and us - well. And Sam is engaging (and has a great smile)! -

Do not, I repeat do not go expecting a romantically lit restaurant with tablecloths and bone China. But if you want really good barbecue with flavors of the south and a warm reception PLEASE check out Backyard Barbeque. This place reminds me of places I stopped at in the south twenty years ago but with better music. The owner Archie is friendly and rightfully proud of his food. Of course some items are better than others, I thought that his ribs (only tried the pork), sausage (not made in-house), brisket, collard greens, and Mac and cheese were phenomenal. The wife really enjoyed the BBQ chicken.
Again if you are cool with fluorescent lights and plastic ware and moderately high prices then find your way to this unpolished gem. -
